Some of Me, Some of You, Some of We

Losing tickets at Del Mar race track, people rip them up and throw them over the ledge.

One lovely thing about marriage is that there are things you introduce to each other to that were once just "your thing", that soon become "our thing".

This weekend we are thinking about doing "our thing".

My thing is beer and jazz music, he will participate in attending jazz concerts, and he'll go visit a brewery because I am excited to taste their beer. Still it isn't something he gets excited about or would do on his own.

His thing is drum and bass music and futbol, I'll watch a futbol game with him and I'll attend a DnB show for him and enjoy the music.  Still it isn't something I get excited about or would do on my own.

Our thing that we always could relate on was hip-hop culture and rap music....we don't have to convenience each other when it comes to an event that involves that.

It is nice when we can discover new things to become "our thing".

Like horse racing is one that we learned to like together.

I am not a gambling type of girl, always feel like I rather buy shoes than give it to a machine or a blackjack dealer.

My husband on the other hand, he tells stories of his Vegas "I lost my rent money, not sure how I will get back to L.A." days.

He is responsible now and considerate since he has a wife. Now when we go to Vegas our highlight of the weekend becomes what restaurants we tried out.

I sometimes feel bad that he doesn't get to gamble like he would enjoy or use to enjoy because he is always thinking about me and doesn't want me bored while he lives in a casino all day. Plus he can't go back to the days of losing it all in Vegas since his decision don't affect just him and he is a man who is not selfish, so he always tries to thinks about us first.

So when we were invited to take a trip down to Del-Mar for the horse racing it sounds like an exciting thing to do.  I had never been to a horse racing track and he had never been to Del Mar (he has bet on horses before).  He bet on horse racing before but never really knew enough about it to place good bets or was that into it to want to go on a random day or two.  I knew of nothing about horse racing except that the horses have some unique names at times and that women wear big hats to the track (I never have and probably won't in the future do the hat thing, just not my type of thing).

So when I first started learning he taught me the basic on how to place a bet, other than that I had no method for what horse to choose. So I would bet on the names I liked, I seen other people do it and have success with that way. Somehow for me, picking names always ending up with a lost.

So I got serious and started to read the stats on the horses and jockeys and I started to watch the horse as they walked before the race when they show them.  All of a sudden, I was winning and watching horses run and screaming for mines to be number 1.  Everything became exciting ....

Yeah,.... who knew I'd like horse racing.

So on one hand, now my husband gets to gamble a little and I tend to bet on a horse or two as well. But I just like the excitement of picking a horse and watching him/her run and try to be first regardless of if I place money or not.  I pick out my favorites to win even if I don't place a cash bet cause I still enjoy seeing that horse win even if I didn't spend money.  My husband gets to gamble and I get to be entertained, and we both get to do something together that we equally enjoy the same.

Del Mar Race Track

There is a place called Sammy's, close to our jobs (our jobs are pretty close to each other). So sometimes when he works on the weekend, we make it a plan to have lunch there afterwards and watch a few races.

It is always a pleasure to win a few of the races, it is a good day when we can win enough to where we can spend our winning on the lunch we ate.

In order to be perma-honeymooners, a rule to remember is --- it's never to late to find new things to enjoy doing together.

Cheers to date weekends and cheers to having an "our thing" to enjoy together.

Love & xoxo

Newly-Weds-Always (N.W.A)

So we are believers of marrying someone who can be your best friend.  This year's anniversary was spent doing something we like both had so much fun doing.  My husband kept talking about how he couldn't wait for the Straight Outta Compton movie to show and that he was going to dress up.  I knew he was serious about dressing up and would do it if I was okay with it, so I suggested to him that we should do it for our anniversary.   All I had to do was say the word and husband had purchased a jerri curl wig and talk me into buying a Compton hat.  I worn his Kings hat and we rocked gold ropes and everyone love our costumes inspired by the premiere of the movie, while watching the movie.

Straight Outta Compton was a success and we love the movie and we don't mind seeing it again, probably will see it again.

Our anniversary was a busy and lovely time as always (crawfish festival, sand sculpture festival, and trying to not melt in the heat). We were 2 for 3, cause we melted in that heat.

When it comes to love and marriage, I think it is best to keep it fresh.  Don't forget to have fun and do the things that made you fall in love to begin with and find new things to fall in love about together, especially through infertility.

Speaking of infertility, we got less than two weeks before our first appointment for IVF (link is at the bottom of the blog for the Go Fund Me).  While we are still doing our Go Fund Me and are blessed with donations, we still have a long way to go.  We are thankful for the out pouring of help through donations, prayers and sharing of our Go Fund Me.  If the spirit moves you, we thank you for the click and donate if you choose to do so at the bottom of the blog.

Besides that, our anniversary was magical, so therefore always remember to marry someone who makes you feel like a Newly-Wed-Always (N.W.A).

Peace and Love.

Four More Years

It's Our Anniversary

We've survived four years, yay - we have something in common with presidents.  We did four years of hard time.  Actually the time wasn't hard and it has been great.  We've done 7 years of being together and now our years married have past the years we were not married. Not bad if I say so myself.

Each year we do something small for our anniversary.

Year 1.  We took a gondola ride through Little Naples, a neighborhood in Long Beach with a beautiful canal . A company called  Gondola Getaway, offers romantic rides through the canal. We ate at Micheal's on Naples, a lovely little restaurant around the corner from the gondola ride. We took a tour of Dodger Stadium the next day, (we actually got to witness and assist in a surprise marriage proposal - yes, the lovely woman who was asked said yes as they stood at home plate on the Dodger's field).  We also hung out in Westwood and had faloodeh  (this is when I tried it for the first time and became hooked on it).

Tahdig

Tacheen & Grits Tacheen
For a gift I got a nice recipe book on Persian cooking and it is one of my favorite cookbooks still to this day.  My husband brags about my tahdig, tacheen and Persian rice cooking skills.

(By the way, the third picture is a picture of my cooking...the top is tacheen and the bottom is my special made recipe called grits tacheen.  It is the grits, sausage, hash-browns, in a tacheen form with a nice egg on top.  I wanted to fuse  American food with Persian food to represent  our family which is a mixture of the two. That is a post for another day, that is one of our lovely sweet Sunday brunches. *The grits tacheen is not from our year one celebrations*)

We did a lot for our year one anniversary as it should be. If you are newly wed and fresh into the first year I encourage you to celebrate the first anniversary with a bang.

Year 2. We had dinner at Mastro's, (my mouth is watering just thinking about butter cake) and we spent it celebrating with friends at a day party called the Do-Over.  I have pictures of the good times but I don't want to extend this with million of pictures. (There is a whole lot about this I am leaving out but, this blog has many times for flashback stories.)

Year 3. We had dinner at Orange Hill, it is a restaurant on a hill (of course) with a beautiful view in Orange, CA.  It overlooks the city of Orange and it is very romantic.  From there we went to see a movie called Fumio Demura - The Real Miyagi , it is a documentary about the real guy  - Fumio Demura - he is the man whom the character, Mr. Miyagi was inspired after in the Karate Kid movies. The documentary is awesome...check it out when you can.  I am sure you'll like it.

This year....what will it bring...

well we are planning on having dinner and a movie... (simple  right, except the fact that we are dressing up in character for the movie... yeah, you are probably wondering what movie....hmm... oh don't worry, there will be pictures.  Plus, we also have a few other things planned for the weekend)

I am planning on reporting about our enjoyment later as our perma-honeymooners adventures unfold for the weekend.

For example, our restaurant tonight is called James Republic , a place where they update the menu daily according to what they buy at the farmers market.

Very hipster-ish but sounds amazing, we don't even know what options we will have to eat but I am sure we will take lots of pictures and enjoy it.

When reflecting on the previous years,  I don't think I would have this much fun being married to anyone else so I am happy for the blessing of having the husband I was gave by God.

I am sure year number four will be just as and even more amazing than the first 3 years. I hope we are able to keep you entertained!!!

Until then...thanks for reading and coming along for the ride.

Welcome - Hello World

I am a dork... I always start off a new blog with Hello World.

...so with that being said... Hello World.

Welcome to my blog about life through love and infertility (as if we need another blog on that).

Welcome to my blog about everything that doesn't involve infertility as we go through infertility.

I'll post links to our Go Fund Me, and I update on breakdown, heartaches of another failed cycle, the times when I hate taking this medicine or that.  But those post will be few and far in between, except the Go Fund Me post...I mean IVF's just don't pay for themselves..

if you are curious about this GFM I keep talking about here is the link.

http://www.gofundme.com/faithinivfdreams  (ps. today is $10 Tuesday, feel free to donate $10 dollars if the spirit moves you)

But beside that, I want this page to be about us as a couple, living near a beach and doing fun things. About my need to go to Palm Springs, or visit the eastern part of Southern California (or as you call it Vegas).  It will be about how I am leading a campaign to keep the Chargers in San Diego, and about food.  Our sweet Sunday breakfast in bed days and my hybrid recipes like grits tacheen.

Anyways...welcome and I hope you stick around for a few.  Come snoop into the lives of a couple who is striving to always be in the honeymoon stage aka perma-honeymooners.
